Tubing and bars are measured for straightness using Depth of Arc Measurements (DOA). Straightness should be measured with indicators and this method requires rotating the tube length in a simple roller fixture and recording several indicator readings along the length. This straightness inspection will generate a 'straightness per foot' answer. Straightness tolerances are not measured on a lathe.
